Spacetime is the unified four-dimensional continuum — three dimensions of space plus one of time — introduced for special relativity by Hermann Minkowski in 1908. An event has both a place and a moment.

In general relativity, spacetime is not a fixed stage: mass and energy bend it, and that curvature is what we experience as gravity.
