Length contraction

A moving object is measured as shorter along its direction of motion.

Length contraction is the shortening of an object measured along its direction of motion, by the same Lorentz factor that governs time dilation. A spaceship passing at near-light speed would be measured as squashed in the direction it travels.

Like time dilation, the effect is symmetric and real, not an illusion of the measuring apparatus.
